After a year off, a baby, and a whole lot of sleepless nights, I have
decided to reopen my little cake shop. I love making cakes and miss it
dearly, so it is time to get back in the saddle... well maybe just the kitchen. Just in case you are worried
my cake making skills might be a little rusty after a whole year here
are some of the cakes I made during my time "off".
This was a cake for Will, one of my boys' best buddies. His birthday is New Years Eve (just 8 days before Carson's), but he celebrates his half birthday so there is some distinction between Christmas and Birthday (not to mention giving mom and dad a break in the receiving of toys!) The party was at a really cool splash pad and so of course the theme was anything beach. The cake was chocolate with buttercream icing, the sand was a mixture of brown sugar and graham crackers. I hand made each of the decorations, the seashells were all chocolate and everything else was made of a gumpaste and fondant mixture.
I also made cupcakes with their own beach scene topper and umbrella.
Then, I got the pleasure of making Brenna's 3rd candy shop birthday cake. The large cake was chocolate and the top was a almond butter. The number 3, the candies and lollipops were handmade using gumpaste and fondant.
I also made an Elmo cake for sweet Maddie. The birthday girl really wanted her own cake to eat (not a slice, the WHOLE cake) so I made her a little Elmo to match the big one.
So, what can I make for you? I've promised myself and my family that I will only do one cake a week, let me know soon so I can get you on the calendar.
