Horse Farm!

I took a trip home to Wichita Falls this past weekend and truly thought it would be a weekend away from cake decorating. Then I called Rachael, my best friend since high school, and all that changed! Her oldest son Carter was turning five and since I was coming to town he wanted me to make him a cake. We tossed around many ideas until I sent her a picture of Down on the Farm and Carter made the decision that he wanted a barn cake!

Carter is in LOVE with horses! He has had a horse themed birthday party every year of his life. Every party has been at the Whispers of Hope barn but this time the horses came to Carter!! So of course the cake had to have horses and all things cowboy on it! Because I was travelling and wanted to make a cake I knew would turn out right I turned to my Cricut Cake. Man I love this new toy. It makes me, the amateur look like a pro!

I covered the bottom cake in green fondant and the then added grass piping to the top. The Barn is covered in red butter cream and chocolate fondant on top. The letters, number 5, all the horses and the cowboy accents are gumpaste. The cake is half chocolate, half vanilla and the barn is one layer chocolate and one layer vanilla.

Now I realize that this is a cake blog but I had to include some pics of the real horses!
Carson was crying before getting on the horse, but as soon as he sat down he was mesmerized!
With the help of Grandma, Logan got to ride all by himself. He loved it!
