Strangers

I love getting to make cakes for people I know, it makes the process fun because I imagine their faces when they see it and taste it. Recently, I have had the opportunity to make cake for perfect strangers which, I must confess, is pretty stressful. I put my own spin on things, and then begin to worry if they are going to like that little spin, and then I stress even more.
This cake was made for a friend of a friend's friend. Yep, that's right I didn't know them at all and they trusted me to make them a cake for a baby shower! (no stress, right!)

 The idea was green's and brown's because they don't know if the baby is a boy or girl. They call the baby "Baby Bear" so they wanted a bear on top. Please excuse the fuzziness of the picture, I only took one of this cake on my phone.

The next week, I got to make a cake for a 14 year old birthday girl. She was so funny when describing her cake. She wanted Strawberry, I don't do strawberry cake, so she wanted vanilla cake with strawberry filling. Then her fist request was for makeup, since she was doing a Mary Kay party. Then, as I was trying to figure out how to do makeup on a cake, she said, "No, wait, I want pink with black writing and bright colored polka dots!!" She was excited and I was excited to not be modelling lipstick from gumpaste!
