I originally was going to name this post "kicking and screaming", not because of a a two year old tantrum. but because of the way I felt when Brenna's mom, Brandy, first sent me the inspiration cake. I truly didn't think I could make this cake. I was scared I couldn't do the paisley on the owl or on the top layer. I really thought, "oh great, she is trusting me to make this cake, but I 'm going to make it look horrible!" Instead of kicking and screaming I took a second, third, and fourth look and realized I could do it. I just had to take my time.
I am so glad I did! I had so much fun making this cake, I just started and kept cutting flowers and leaves and vines and kept adding until I liked the look. It was very freeing to be so creative! The owl on top is cut out of gumapaste then I drew the paisley print on the wings with edible markers.
Thanks to Brandy for asking for this cake!! I loved making it, I loved even more that it was for such a wonderful little girl!!
Happy 2nd Birthday Brenna!
