Island time

In my previous profession I met an amazing woman, She taught me how to work smarter, not harder, and how to truly enjoy being a teacher. I haven't seen Elizabeth in years, I was so excited when she asked me to make a cake!

Liz, her hubby and some friends love island hopping (just a little jealous), for her friend's birthday she had to have a beach themed cake.

The choclate cake is iced with buttercream, then the beach was made using a graham cracker and brown sugar mixture. The palm trees, sign, towels and life preserver were hand sculpted with fondant and gumpaste. The sea creatures and shells were made from chocolate. to make the water look a little more realistic I added a small amount of piping gel to give it a shiny look.

 

Now I want to go read a book on a beach!
