A friend of mine requested a cupcake/ cake combination for her daughter's birthday party. I of course said yes but knew I would have to practice A LOT before actually starting on her cake and cupcakes. This is the first of the "practice" cupcakes and cake.
I used a double chocolate cupcake with a classic buttercream icing. The decorations are made of Marzipan.
From this I learned that I LOVE the chocolate cake recipe that I used, I love buttercream (who doesn't), I needed a larger round icing tip, and Marzipan has a natural taupe color which effects the coloring and makes pink look orange.
The birthday cake and cupcakes are still to come but this practice round taught me a lot!
