I'm a Rockstar Baby!

After many round of practice the time finally came to actually make this cake and cupcakes.
I started this project the Saturday before I had to have them done. I use marshmallow fondant so I new the stars and guitars needed a long time to harden, I'm glad I started so early!
the black stars proved to be very tough to make black. No matter how much black coloring I added they were still blue. So I let them dry and then "painted" them with a mixture of black coloring and vanilla. After they were done I found a recipe for chocolate Marshmallow fondant which starts brown and makes getting to black soooo much easier, I'll use this next time for sure!! The guitars were pretty easy to cut out and place to dry, once dry they were very fragile. I am so glad I made so many extras.
The cake turned out pretty much as expected, purple marshmallow fondant over a yummy new vanilla cake recipe. The zebra print is a non-edible ribbon, the stars and letters are all from fondant and the top guitar is chocolate.
From this, I learned to use chocolate fondant when black is needed, I learned that Marshmallow fondant becomes very fragile when dried and I learned that chocolate makes an amazing "glue" when attaching decorations to cakes or to lollipop sticks.
I loved making this cake and from the look of the picture below it looks like Miss Kaylee loved her cake too!
