I made this cake for a friends baby shower today. This is a chocolate cake with butter cream icing covered in marshmallow fondant. The brown strips are chocolate fondant (think smores without a graham cracker, mmmm!). The flowers and borders are made of fondant and gumpaste.
The flowers were made using a flower press from which I really like, I think they are very dainty. The strips were made using my fondant cutter/roller. I love this thing it is so easy to use!
From this I learned that chocolate fondant is yummy and just as easy to make, that the flower press works best on gumpaste instead of fondant, lastly I learned that it isn't hard to eat my own cakes. I always thought I would be really upset to see my work be cut apart but I actually enjoyed taking it apart and serving it!
