Kyla is Kelly's daughter. Kelly and I pledged Alpha Phi together way back when. So to be able to make Kyla's first birthday cake was a really special honor. Kyla was Piglet for Halloween so it is fitting that her first birthday cake be of Piglet and Pooh.
Piglet's head is rice krispie treat and her body is cake both are covered in pink marshmallow fondant. Her arms, legs and ears are pink gumpaste. Pooh is a vanilla cake with a butter cream icing. Both are sitting on a vanilla cake with strawberry filling covered in green coconut to make the grass. The flowers are made of pink royal icing.
After blowing out the candle we moved the pooh cake to a separate plate for Kyla to have as her smash cake. I always thought I would have trouble cutting a cake that I had put so much work into, but the truth is I love cutting the cake and watching people enjoy what I worked so hard on.
