The second cake I made this week was for another good friend from my teaching days. We went through many different possibilities for this cake but in the end I think we created a great cake!
The first request was for the cake to look like presents. Love it so excited to finally get to do square cakes, I had never made any and I am so glad I did, I think they look very sophisticated!
I then asked if there was a specific, pattern, color scheme or type of flower. My client came back with zebra print, red white and black and then roses! (I knew those Wilton cake decorating classes about flowers would pay off eventually!)
Before making the cake I made the bows and flowers so they could dry. After drying the color just wasn't what I wanted so I used a ruby red luster dust to paint the flowers and bows. I am so glad I painted them, the color just looks so much better!
I love the way this cake turned out! The cakes are covered in white marshmallow fondant then I used chocolate marshmallow fondant to create the tops of the boxes and the zebra print.
