I love making cakes, I love making big, fun and complex cakes, but until now I had never made one for my kids. Sure, I've made some cute ones like Mickey, but never big, fun and complex. So when Logan asked to have his 4th birthday party at a local train park, I knew it was time for one of my kids to get the big, fun and complex cake, I made a train!
I made the train board by painting a river and grass on to a piece of plywood and gluing down the plastic tracks from our huge Geo Tracks collections (I knew there was a good reason for having so many pieces!)
This cake was one of my most time intensive cakes, carving, icing and
decorating thirteen different cakes proved to take much longer than I
ever expected. But, this little boy loved his Captain
Barnacles train cake and in the end that is all that really matters.
